LARA - Mood & Emotion

So Lara and I have  had the opportunity to work together over the last couple of months. Although not new to modelling, Lara is new to photographic modelling and we have been working together to improve her moods and emotions that we, as photographers, look for in our images.

The gear I used in this shoot was my Godox AD300, the Godox AD-R12 reflector, Godox S65w Octa and the new Godox QR70P Octa

In this session, you can see some of the images that we were able to get, as well as some BTS of my lighting setup.

We started with a very simple, one light setup using a Godox AD300 with the AD-R12 reflector from camera right. My V-Flat is in an L-Shape so I set it up to create a shadow on the background to create an effect. There is no diffusion of the light in this shot

In this next shot I set up the Godox AD300 but this time I used the S65 Octa to create a more softer light. I also angled the light so that I would get some spill light onto the background to create a vignette

In this next shot, we did a quick change so I could set up my lighting. I took the same setup as before, only this time I put the light from above and in front of Lara. In this setup, I usually use a much larger Octa, either a 90cm or a 120cm, but decided to use this 65cm to see what the light fall would be. As you can see, I think that the shots came out well. At least now I know I can use this setup on location without having to bring the larger Octa along.

In this next setup, I kept the AD300 but changed the Octa to the Godox QR70P, which is a deep para octa. The light is slightly more focused than the S65W due to the shape. This is such an awesome Octa to use as you can set in up in a matter of seconds and the build quality is superb. Sometimes the 90 & the 120 are rather large to take on location so this 70 will be perfect but also works well in the studio.

The last setup was back to the original with the Godox AD300 and the AD-R12 reflector. Here we created some great hard light with some awesome shadows on the background. We had no flowing dress for this shot so we decided to use a piece of material I use as a backdrop and I think it came out fantastic.

This is the view to show you the setup. We did move the light to the opposite side.
