BEACH TWIST

My last shoot for the year Lara and I decided to do something a little different to end off 2021.

BEACH TWIST was the theme, so we packed 2 slip dresses, a pair of gloves,  1 pair of shoes, sunglasses, 1 hat and a chair ... why the hell not.

The shoot day was meant to be cloudless so I had some idea of what I wanted to get for the for the day. Alas, as we have all come to know, PE's weather has a mind of it's own and we woke up to a very cloudy and overcast day. We could have easily cancelled ........ but we didn't.

I quickly popped down to the studio to pick up my AD300, AD S65 Octa, AD R12 reflector and a light stand, fetched Lara and we were at the beach at 05:25 am.

The next few setups I used the AD300 pro with the AD R12 reflector. The day was so grey and dull I had to use the light to create some contrast in the image. Being able to darken down the background to get the details in the sky and then the pop of light to bring Lara out. Essentially using HSS.

These are some of the images using the same setup.

The next set I swopped the reflector for the AD S65 Octa just because I wanted to have a more softer light but still needing to shoot in HSS to darken the background.

I also got the chance to shoot some natural light a bit later on in the morning

So that's a wrap ............. although I was expecting a beautiful sunrise shoot, I was very happy with what we got with what we were given. Just another reason to learn to shoot with strobes.

KEEP CHALLENGING YOURSELF
